Principal Real Estate Investors is looking for a hole-in-one in the hotel and golf course development market.

On Monday, Principal announced a partnership with Denver-based Miller Global Properties LLC to develop the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Club Resort and Spa.

The project consists of 12 structures totaling more than 1 million square feet. This is the first hotel and golf development for Principal.

“Most of our future investments will be in hotels specifically,” said Rod Vogel, managing director of acquisitions and asset management at Principal. “We will focus on in ill urban hotels in the major markets in the United States.”

Principal wouldn’t release information about the cost of the project due to “confidentiality reasons.”

Vogel said there is a gap in the San Antonio luxury hotel market that this property will fill.
