Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Iowa launches push for new mentors

102 wordsAll Latest News, Nonprofits and PhilanthropyIn collaboration with the NFL’s Inspire Change initiative, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Iowa recently launched the Big Draft, an annual volunteer recruitment campaign to encourage more adults, particularly men of color, to become mentors, also known as “Bigs.” Its goal is to recruit 60 Bigs in 60 days to help provide mentors for the over 200 youths on Big Brothers Big Sisters’ waiting list. As part of initiative, Big Brothers Big Sisters is hosting their first flag football game on April 13 at 2 p.m. at Williams Stadium, where youths will team up with athletes from Grand View, Simpson and other colleges.
