Construction is expected to begin this summer on a community clubhouse in Gray’s Station, a $500 million community in downtown Des Moines being developed by Hubbell Realty Co.

The clubhouse, located near Gray’s Parkway and Southwest 13th Street, will include a fitness center, indoor event space, pool, pool deck with fire pits and grills, and an outdoor stage for live music and other events.

Development costs are estimated at $2.8 million.

The clubhouse will be open to residents who have purchased a home within Gray’s Station. It will be open to the public for other events.

Hubbell Realty began planning Gray’s Station in 2016. Last fall, the West Des Moines-based company announced plans for the addition of about 800 residential units to the development, which links the popular Gray’s Lake recreation area and the central business district.  

Construction of Telus, a condo community, is also expected to begin this summer. Ten condos have already been reserved, Hubbell Realty said in a news release. The condos, which will range in price from $240,000 to more than $400,000, will include garages and private balconies.
