DMACC renames former Maytag campus in Newton
Des Moines Area Community College announced today that it has renamed the former Newton Maytag Campus as Legacy Plaza to rededicate and market the campus owned by the community college to prospective businesses from across the country. The $9 million headquarters campus was donated to DMACC in October 2016 and includes eight buildings with 482,000 square feet of office and meeting space. Buildings 1 and 2 will continue to be part of the Historic Maytag Event Complex and will be referred to by that name. “Maytag helped create the DMACC Newton Campus more than a quarter century ago,” DMACC President Rob Denson said in a release. “Now, we have a unique opportunity to create new businesses and new jobs for our graduates.” KW Commercial, the commercial real estate arm of Keller Williams Realty Inc., has been selected to market the property for traditional office space, lab space, conference rooms with kitchenette facilities, street-level retail, restaurants and other uses.
