AARP Iowa accepting Community Challenge grant applications
AARP Iowa is accepting applications for its 2022 Community Challenge grant program, which is designed to make communities more livable. The deadline to apply for a grant is March 22. According to a news release, grants help pay for projects that improve public spaces, transportation, housing, civic engagement, coronavirus recovery, and diversity and inclusion, among others. “AARP Iowa is excited to kick-off the Community Challenge again in 2022 to continue helping communities across Iowa become great places for people of all backgrounds, abilities and ages, especially people 50-plus,” AARP Iowa State Director Brad Anderson said in the release. “The program has proven that quick-action projects can lead to long-lasting improvements right where Iowans live.” Proposals will be prioritized if they are inclusive, address disparities, engage volunteers and support residents who are 50 and older. Grants can range from several hundred dollars for small, short-term activities to tens of thousands for larger projects. More than $165,000 in grants has been awarded through the program since 2017.
