The Iowa Association of Business and Industry this week said it supports the passage of Trade Promotion Authority and authorization of new trade opportunities to promote job growth in Iowa. “Manufacturing plays a critical role in Iowa’s economy – accounting for more than 217,000 jobs throughout the state,” said Mike Ralston, ABI president. “So does the ability to export goods. Nearly 45 percent of the state’s $28.4 billion in manufacturing outputs last year were exported to other countries. Expanding trade opportunities will help these companies continue to grow, providing more high-quality jobs and economic stimulus for Iowa communities and the state as a whole.”
