ABI survey: Business leaders bullish
Iowa business leaders seem more focused on a strong economy than on possible trouble from tariffs, the latest survey by the Iowa Association of Business and Industry found.
“Sales continue to be strong for ABI members,” said President Mike Ralston. “Surprisingly, not one member mentioned tariffs this time. Investing in acquisitions and new construction were highlights.”
The survey this month found:
• 73 percent of respondents expect sales to expand over the next year, while 23 percent expect sales to remain at current levels.
• 47 percent plan to add employees, the same percentage that expects staffing to remain unchanged.
• 87 percent of survey respondents plan to make capital expenditures in the second quarter.
• A shortage of skilled labor continues to be the top concern.
