Iowa women interested in running for office can soon sign up for 50-50 in 2020’s fourth biennial Blueprint for Winning Academy, a program designed to equip them with the knowledge needed to run a successful campaign.

Registration for the program will open Nov. 8. The academy, which is open to all Iowa women running for the Iowa Legislature or public office and their campaign managers, is scheduled to take place Jan. 18-20 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Johnston. The training features classwork in campaign finance and organization, getting media coverage, using social media, and one-on-one image and message coaching by expert Chris Jahnke.

In addition to classwork, the academy will offer representatives from both major political parties meeting with their parties’ candidates to discuss the parties’ role in their campaigns. The opening evening features a dessert and wine “speed dating” session with current and former women legislators and potential mentors.

The registration fee for the academy is $350 per person. Those registering before the Jan. 5 early deadline will receive a $50 discount. Scholarships are available. Registration forms and more information are online.
