Aetna and CVS offer Medicare drug plan
Aetna Inc. said today it was teaming up with retail pharmacy CVS Caremark Corp. to offer a Medicare prescription drug plan, Bloomberg reported. The co-branded plan, which the elderly and disabled can begin signing up for on Oct. 15 in the 43 states where CVS has stores, costs $26 a month, offers a $3 copayment for prescriptions of preferred drugs and carries no deductible for generics, Aetna said. The partnership mirrors an alliance announced last year between Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and Medicare managed care provider Humana Inc., Bloomberg said.
