AG office offering free, online training on sexual assault response

139 wordsAll Latest News, Government Policy and Law, Health and WellnessThe Iowa attorney general’s office is offering free online training on sexual assault topics for Iowa medical providers. The three-hour training is led by the Crime Victim’s Assistance Division and covers a range of topics, including the role of sexual assault response teams and sexual assault nurse examiners, the sexual assault evidence kit tracking system, programs within the Crime Victim’s Assistance Division and hospital policies and procedures. The course is also available for nonmedical providers, including advocates, social workers, law enforcement and members of the public. The project is the first training initiative offered by the division’s new sexual assault forensic response effort, which is led by Sara Hulen, the state’s first sexual assault forensic response coordinator. The course will be available for three years and is listed on the University of Iowa’s Continuing Medical Education website.
