Air traffic gained 8.5 percent in September
The number of passengers using Des Moines International Airport rose 8.5 percent in September, to 206,083 from 189,858. Year to date, traffic is up 5.8 percent to nearly 1.9 million, well above the clip needed to support construction of a new terminal. Allegiant saw the biggest gain at 26.5 percent. The biggest carrier, American Airlines, gained 14 percent. Cargo dropped 5 percent in September, but is up 2.5 percent for the year.
