Ankeny’s new senior community center is receiving a $500,000 donation from residents Dennis and Susan Albaugh, the city announced. The gift allows the couple naming rights to the facility, which will be called Albaugh Family Senior Community Center. The new facility is under construction at 250 N.W. Ash Drive. The $7.1 million center is a joint project between the city of Ankeny and Polk County. The two-story, 30,300-square-foot center will include a dining room, warming kitchen, exam/health room, multipurpose gymnasium for pickleball, volleyball and basketball, a running track, and exercise, billiard, game and craft rooms. Construction is expected to be completed by late 2021.
