Flight times and fare information can be found on the Allegiant website. Palm Springs is the 14th nonstop flight the airline offers from Des Moines. It’s also the latest in a string of additions the airline has made to Des Moines after opening its much anticipated base at Des Moines International Airport in July. It immediately began nonstop service to Houston, Portland, Ore., and San Diego. It launched service to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., in October. According to data on the airport’s website, Allegiant saw more than 23,000 passengers pass through its gates at the Des Moines airport in October, a 55% increase from the same month a year ago. Year-to-date through October, Allegiant had 240,814 passengers, a nearly 68% increase from 2020. In the news release, Drew Wells, Allegiant’s senior vice president of revenue and planning, said the addition of Palm Springs will give Des Moines travelers another option when they’re searching for someplace warm to travel this winter. “We’re thrilled to offer locals an affordable, nonstop, convenient option that helps them plan their winter getaway to sunny Southern California,” he said.
