Alliant Energy Foundation makes grants to six nonprofits

Six nonprofit organizations in Greater Des Moines have been awarded community grants totaling $18,000 from the Alliant Energy Foundation in the first of its two 2015 giving cycles. The Science Center of Iowa will receive $5,000 for science, technology, engineering and math education; the Iowa Association of Business and Industry Foundation will also receive $5,000 for its Business Horizons program. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is getting $3,000 for Project AWARE (A Watershed Awareness River Expedition). Also receiving grants are: Junior Achievement of Central Iowa, $2,500 for its programs in Central Iowa communities served by Alliant Energy; Children & Families of Iowa, $1,500 for its Fatherhood Education in Southern Iowa program; and Everybody Wins Iowa Inc., $1,000 for Power School Lunch sponsorship.
