Alliant pays $1.1 million fine, cuts back on coal
Alliant Energy has settled a case involving excess pollution emissions, signing an agreement with Sierra Club, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the state of Iowa and Linn County. Alliant agreed to pay a $1.1 million civil fine, convert some facilities to natural gas, install pollution control equipment, and invest $6 million in environmental projects that could include new solar energy installations.
