The council already has approved the rezoning of 136 acres to R-5 Planned Unit Development from A-1 Agricultural. However, one 8-acre parcel slated for commercial development is still going through the rezoning process.
The council has yet to approve residential plans calling for 118 acres with three dwelling units per acre and 18 acres with seven dwelling units per acre.
Altoona annexed the land at the city’s eastern edge more than a year ago. Hubbell Realty Co. is the developer for The Prairie at Tuscany Reserve, and Altoona City Administrator Jeff Mark said Hubbell hopes to begin infrastructure work this fall.
