On Wednesday, employees of American Equity Investment Life Holding Co. will partner with Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity to build the walls to one house at American Equity’s parking lot. The event is part of GDM Habitat’s Panel Build program, which gives businesses and organizations the chance to gather their employees and groups to partner with GDM Habitat in the parking lots of their own businesses. More than 80 American Equity employees plan to participate in building the wall panels, which will be used in a Habitat home to be built this year for a low-income family. The home buyer family will invest 400 hours of sweat equity in the construction of their home and the homes of other GDM Habitat home buyer families.
