American Lung Association announces plan to end youth vaping
The American Lung Association is launching a new four-part plan to end youth vaping. In Iowa, 20% of high school students used e-cigarettes in 2019, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The new plan includes the public awareness campaign “Get Your Head Out of the Cloud”; the Vape-Free Schools Initiative to help schools develop a comprehensive tobacco use policy; targeted advocacy plans to pass legislation that includes alternative nicotine and vapor products in tobacco tax policy; and $2 million in research investment to understand the effects of vaping on developing lungs.
