Through the program, people can purchase digital and printable gift cards that can be used at participating chamber members. Dan Culhane, Ames Chamber president and CEO, said the new Community Cash Program is an expansion of the Buy-In Story County Gift Card Program that was introduced in the early weeks of the coronavirus pandemic. “Over $137,775 was infused into our local businesses at an incredibly critical time,” Culhane said in a news release. “It was evident to our team that keeping money within our community is a priority for many residents. We explored a number of ways to implement a long-term version of Buy-In Story County and ultimately settled on the Community Cash Program.” According to the release, Community Cash gift cards come in increments of $5, $10, $20 and $25. Customers will receive a unique QR code that may be stored on their phone or printed for one-time use and can be redeemed at any participating business.
