Angela Connolly elected chairperson of Polk County supervisors
The Polk County Board of Supervisors last week elected Angela Connolly as chairperson during its first official public meeting of the new year. Connolly currently serves as 2nd District supervisor. In a news release, Connolly said she plans to focus on advancing the Hunger Free Polk County initiative as well as mental health services in the county. Connolly is one of three women to serve on the Polk County Board of Supervisors in more than 150 years. First elected in 1998, Connolly was named to the Iowa Women’s Hall of Fame in 2016.
