Des Moines Register: The Ankeny City Council signed off on a plan to bring new land into its borders over the objections of some landowners and the city’s northern neighbor. Without discussion, the council unanimously voted to move ahead with annexing an area of about 585 acres northeast of the city. The process is not done yet. The annexation request will now go to the state’s City Development Board for a public hearing and final approval. Meanwhile, the city of Alleman to the north has an annexation plan that conflicts with Ankeny’s.
