The city of Ankeny has been recognized as the 40th Home Base Iowa Community in the state and the fifth community in Polk County. Gov. Terry Branstad announced the designation at a special ceremony at Ankeny City Hall on Monday. Thirty-two Ankeny businesses are currently participating in the initiative, offering career opportunities and a number of incentives ranging from continuing education benefits and assistance to discounted day care, real estate agent fees, health club memberships and hotel stays. Home Base Iowa is a program that assists veterans, transitioning service members and their families by connecting them with career opportunities, resources and benefits for a successful transition in Iowa and a place to call home.
