Ankeny school officials are recommending expansion of four existing elementary buildings to enable the fast-growing district to delay building an 11th elementary school. District officials presented the long-range facility plan to the school board Monday night that would expand Prairie Trail, Rock Creek, Crocker and Ashland Ridge elementary schools, increasing each school’s capacity from 640 students to 750. “This plan allows us to utilize existing budgets and delay the need for a bond referendum,” Superintendent Bruce Kimpston said in a release Enrollment in Ankeny schools is projected at just over 11,000 in 2016-17 and 11,400 in 2017-18.
