The chief executive officer of Apple Inc. said yesterday that the company is pushing forward with developing a new version of Apple TV, which will be unveiled this year and released in 2013.

CEO Tim Cook said in an interview with the AllThingsD technology blog that television is an “intense focus” for the company, according to Bloomberg.

The current version of Apple TV allows users to stream content from the Internet onto their television. The technology has not been widely accepted, however, according to Bloomberg.

Industry insiders told Bloomberg that the developer of iTunes and Apple’s iPod is now working on developing Apple TV.

Cook also said during the interview that Apple hopes to bring more manufacturing of its products back to the United States, including production of the popular iPhone.

Facebook Inc. also came up in the interview, and Cook said he believes Apple can do more with the social media giant and that Apple has “a great appreciation” for Facebook.
