The West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce is accepting applications from nonprofits to receive a portion of the funds raised from the second annual Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Workplace Excellence Awards, which will be scheduled at a later date. The deadline to submit an application is May 1. The chamber’s DEI committee will review submissions and choose an organization that best supports and promotes social justice and aligns with the purpose of the DEI awards. Applicants don’t need to be members of the West Des Moines Chamber or be in West Des Moines. To be considered, applicants must be an Iowa-based 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization that supports social justice. The purpose behind the awards is to learn from and elevate those who have created inclusive work environments. The annual event celebrates businesses who champion DEI and inspire others to expand their own initiatives. The event also recognizes businesses in 11 categories. The deadline to submit a nomination for an award is July 31.
