New facilities for education, public safety and government helped push up the Architecture Billings Index in June following fluctuations earlier this year. The American Institute of Architects reported the June index was 55.7, up from 51.9 in May. Scores above 50 indicate an increase in billings. The new projects inquiry index was 63.4, up from 61.5 the previous month. “The Midwest regional average is the highest of all regions, with positive business conditions being seen in all project sectors,” said AIA Iowa Executive Director Jessica Reinert.
