The Iowa Architectural Foundation’s architect-guided tours of downtown Des Moines’ buildings will be held on the second Friday of the months of May through October. The tours, which include four different routes, provide participants an opportunity to learn about the historical significance of downtown buildings as well as how to identify architectural detail, style and elements. Tours begin at 5:30 p.m. and take about 1 1/2 hours, covering about 18 blocks. Check in for the tours beginning at 5 p.m. in the atrium of Capital Square, 400 Locust St. Tickets are $20.
