The Des Moines Art Center has received a $100,000 grant from the Andy Warhol Foundation. The grant will support these exhibitions, along with commissions, publications and community programming: “Susan Collis: Without you the world goes on,” Jan.  26 to May 12; “For Today I Am a Boy: Contemporary Queer Abstraction,” June 1 to Sept. 8; “Monument Valley,” Oct. 5, 2019, to Jan. 12, 2020; “Karla Black,” Feb. 8 to May 17, 2020; and “Justin Favela,” June 13 to Sept. 13, 2020. The gift will support the exhibitions, the commission of new works of art, publications, and community programming associated with the exhibitions. Previously, Sotheby’s awarded a $10,000 grant to the Art Center toward the “For Today I Am a Boy: Contemporary Queer Abstraction” exhibition, one of five projects chosen from among 93 applications from 19 countries.
