The ash-tree-killing emerald ash borer has been confirmed in Missouri Valley, the state reported. The beetle, which eats its way through ash trees’ food supplies, now has been confirmed in 35 Iowa counties. The invasive species from Asia has been found in 27 states and has killed tens of million of trees nationally since showing up in Michigan in 2002. It spreads on nursery stock and firewood.
