Todd Ashby, executive director of the Des Moines Area Metropolitan Planning Organization, and Polk County Supervisor Angela Connolly have received national leadership awards from the Association of Metropolitan Planning Organizations. Ashby received the Ronald F. Kirby Memorial National Award for Outstanding Individual Leadership for this work on the Des Moines Transload Facility, which will serve businesses within 150 miles of Greater Des Moines by connecting the trucking and rail networks. Connolly won the Award for Outstanding Elected Official Leadership for her leadership roles in three high-profile planning efforts: Tomorrow Plan, Capital Crossroads and DART Forward 2035.
