WiMed is a lightweight mobile monitoring hardware system that uses an encrypted remote server and Web applications suite. The system, which is cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and compliant with federal health care privacy rules, will be used by Optimae’s care providers in efforts to increase the quality of care provided to patients with conditions such as chronic heart failure and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and decrease readmissions to hospitals. “The partnership between two innovative Iowa companies made perfect sense,” said Bill Dodds, president and CEO of Optimae, in a press release. “We are encouraged by Athena’s WiMed technology and excited to offer this to our patients.”
