Athene USA, a provider of retirement savings products based in West Des Moines, recently donated 375 laptop and 50 desktop computers to United Way of Central Iowa. “The gently used computers donated by Athene will help so many of our nonprofit partners to update their technology, and ultimately improve the service they provide,” said Mary Sellers, president of United Way of Central Iowa. “Athene is a longtime supporter of United Way, and we are grateful for their forward thinking in reducing e-waste and partnering with us to ensure these computers would be put to good use in our collective effort to improve lives in our local communities.” United Way distributed the computers to 29 partner agencies, including Oakridge Neighborhood, Eat Greater Des Moines, Youth Justice Initiative of West Des Moines, Orchard Place, Altoona 8th Street Child Care, Camp Fire Heart of Iowa and Jewels Academy.
