The first woman to officially run the Boston Marathon plans to attend the IMT Des Moines Marathon this fall, according to a Facebook post. Kathrine Switzer, who continues to run marathons at age 68, wrote a book that chronicles her accomplishments in advancing equality for female athletes. The book is titled “Marathon Woman.” The Des Moines Marathon will be held Oct. 18. Learn more about the event online.
