Bankrate ranks Iowa as 16th-best retirement state
A new Bankrate study ranks Iowa as the 16th-best state for retirement. The state ranked especially well on cost of living, at No. 11, but it’s lowest ranking came on tax climate, at 40th. State lawmakers recently passed a massive tax overhaul, hoping to make the state more competitive. The weather, always a topic among potential residents, ranked 33rd. South Dakota topped the overall list; New York was last.
