Bankruptcy cases up in 2010
Bankruptcy cases filed in federal courts in fiscal year 2010 totaled 1,596,355, according to the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts. That number is up 13.8 percent from fiscal 2009. Business filings dropped for the first time since 2006, but non-business filings were at the highest level since 2005.
