The Des Moines Area Community College board of trustees has approved Baxter Construction Co. to oversee the renovation and remodeling of Building 7 for the school’s Iowa Culinary Institute at the Ankeny campus, according to a release. Demolition of Building 7 will start the second week of May, with the rebuild scheduled for completion in February 2016. The family of Lori-Dowie-Reeser, several individual donors, and Dennis and Susan Albaugh contributed to the project. In December, the Albaugh’s made a $1 million donation to the college. Baxter, which has an office in Des Moines, has built DMACC’s Health Sciences building, expanded and remodeled Campus View student apartments, developed and now operates the Campustown student apartments and built the Newton Campus Career Academy.
