Des Moines Register: President Joe Biden has nominated former Iowa Gov. Chet Culver to sit on the board of the Federal Agricultural Mortgage Corp., better known as Farmer Mac. The publicly traded company is a government-sponsored entity that Congress created in 1988 to increase access to — and lower the cost of — credit in rural America. The president names five of the 15 Farmer Mac board directors, with shareholders choosing the other 10 directors.
