Louise Billmeyer, vice president and chief information officer of U.S. Insurance Solutions at Principal Financial Group Inc., will serve as corporate chair of the 2015 Des Moines Walk to Defeat ALS. The event is the the primary fundraiser for central Iowa’s fight against Lou Gehrig’s Disease (ALS). The walk, presented by Casey’s General Stores, will be held Saturday, Oct. 3, at Principal Park. Billmeyer lost her mother and an aunt to the disease. “I want to do what I can to help find a cure and provide care so others with ALS and their families don’t have to experience the same heartbreak,” she said. Billmeyer takes over for 2014 chair, Bob Ritz, president of Mercy Medical Center – Des Moines. Under Ritz’s leadership, participants and companies involved in last year’s Des Moines walk raised more than $466,000 to assist Iowans affected by ALS.
