Mercy Medical Center-Des Moines and its parent organization, Catholic Health Initiatives, announced that Bishop Drumm Retirement Center in Johnston, a ministry of Mercy Medical Center, will join CHI Living Communities, effective July 1. Bishop Drumm, a continuing care retirement center founded by the Sisters of Mercy, has served seniors in the greater Des Moines area since 1939. Formerly a subsidiary of Mercy Medical Center, Bishop Drumm is now part of an expanding national business line of senior care and living communities within CHI, which operates many such facilities across the nation. Bishop Drumm and its affiliated operations have about 300 residents and employ a staff of approximately 250. No job losses are anticipated as a result of the transition.
