Have you noticed that your desk doesn’t spontaneously get cleaner? It gets messier if you don’t do something about it.
You can blame it on entropy. Entropy is one of the natural laws of the physical world. It states that everything tends toward disorder without an intervention.
That’s true of your desk. It’s true of the rooms in your home. It’s true of your body. Your mind. Your family. Your team. And it’s true of your organization. Even great teams and organizations don’t stay great if they don’t do something.
We all know that relationships need work. Even healthy relationships need work. We can’t expect our relationships to stay strong if we do nothing to keep them healthy. Your most loyal customers aren’t going to stay that way if you do nothing. Entropy tells us that those relationships will tend toward disorder unless we do something.
So, what should we do?
It’s time to walk away from our devices and our search engines and create opportunities to connect with live, human people.
