Booked: New Des Moines festival
A new festival in downtown Des Moines will celebrate stories, books and authors, with a headliner whose fantasy, science and comic works include “Black Panther: Long Live the King.” Nnedi Okorafor, who also wrote “Lagoon” and “Who Fears Death,” will be among those appearing at the inaugural DSM Book Festival, which is free and open to the public. The event March 30 at Capital Square and Cowles Commons will stage poetry slams, readings by book authors, book club discussions, children’s activities, music, food and hands-on activities. The festival will be produced by the Greater Des Moines Partnership.
