Bradshaw to lead Iowa Law Enforcement Academy

Judy Bradshaw today was named director of the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy by Gov. Terry Branstad, effective July 1. Bradshaw became the academy’s assistant director in October 2014 after retiring as Des Moines police chief. She succeeds Arlen Ciechanowski, who retires effective at close of business today. The appointment is subject to Senate confirmation. “The Iowa Law Enforcement Academy serves the important role of training Iowa’s peace officers and preparing them for their career of service,” said Branstad. “I believe Judy Bradshaw possess the leadership, knowledge, temperament and communications skills to effectively lead the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy.” Bradshaw has 35 years of law enforcement experience, 27 of those in management positions.
