Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad has appointed Kemin Industries President and CEO Chris Nelson as co-chair of the Iowa Governor’s STEM Advisory Council. Nelson succeeds Vermeer executive Mary Andringa, who completed her two-year term in May. STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and mathematics. In 2013, STEMconnector named Nelson as one of the top 100 CEO leaders in STEM at U.S. News & World Report’s STEM Solutions Summit. Kemin is one of the area’s most prominent bioscience companies, producing and distributing 500 specialty ingredients for the global feed and food industries and health, nutrition and beauty markets.
