Gov. Terry Branstad has named two people to head state agencies. Branstad appointed Chuck Gipp, a former speaker of the Iowa House of Representatives, as the new director of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.

He replaces Roger Lande, who resigned from that position last week. Gipp, a Republican, served in the Iowa House from 1990 to 2009.

Branstad also named Rep. Steve Lukan as the new director of the Iowa Office of Drug Control Policy. Lukan, a retiring Republican representative from New Vienna, replaces Mark Schouten, who is now the director of the Iowa Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management.
