Branstad’s chief of staff to step down

137 wordsAll Latest News, Government Policy and LawMatt Hinch, chief of staff for Gov. Terry Branstad and Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds, will leave the office Aug. 7 to take a job in the private sector, according to a news release. Hinch, 35, had been senior vice president of government relations and public policy at the Greater Des Moines Partnership for a little more than a year when he was tapped to replace Jeff Boeyink as Branstad’s chief of staff in October 2013. Hinch also served in many different roles in former Congressman Tom Latham’s Washington, D.C., office and on two of his re-election campaigns. He also worked for the Iowa House of Representatives’ Republican caucus and was the executive officer to Kraig Paulsen, the speaker of the Iowa House. Hinch’s next career move will be announced by his future employer, according to the release.
