Bravo of Greater Des Moines today announced $2.4 million in awards to 65 organizations to support arts, culture and heritage programs in the Des Moines area over the next six months. The awards, for the period Jan. 1 through June 30, total nearly $450,000 more than Bravo has ever invested in a six-month period, officials with the organization said. That investment, they said, reflects Bravo’s commitment to continue its support of the cultural sector, which remains deeply challenged by the coronavirus pandemic. Since January 2020, Bravo, on behalf of its 17 local government partners, has invested more than $6.3 million in local nonprofit, cultural organizations that help strengthen the region by enhancing the quality of life and the economy. “Although we don’t know what the future holds, Bravo can be proud of our immediate impact our investments will have as the cultural sector continues to navigate the ongoing disruption,” Executive Director Sally Dix said in the announcement.
