Bravo Greater Des Moines has announced that over $2.5 million was raised as part of a one-time endowment campaign for youth arts access benefiting Passport to Culture. Passport to Culture is the only program administered by Bravo and provides funding to all metro elementary schools to offset costs associated with arts and culture field trips or outreach programs. Last school year, more than 20,000 students accessed cultural programming across Greater Des Moines with funds from Passport to Culture. The fundraising campaign, a first in Bravo’s 20-year history, was led by Sean Vicente and Virginia Lauridsen with donations from more than 200 corporations and individuals, a news release said. “Although this campaign officially kicked off only about a year ago, it has been years in the making,” Bravo President Sally Dix said in a statement. “Since 2008, community leaders have recognized the critical value of arts access for students across the metro and since then, Bravo’s Passport to Culture program has been filling funding gaps to quietly meet this need for thousands of elementary school kids each year.”
