Broadlawns Medical Center was one of four recipients of the Iowa Job Honor Award, presented by the Iowa Society of Human Resource Management at its fifth annual event in Coralville. The awards celebrate Iowans who have overcome significant barriers to employment, and the employers who hire them. Broadlawns was recognized for its TEACH (Training and Educating Adults for a Career in Healthcare) program. Broadlawns implemented the paid training program in the fall of 2016; participants earn a basic and advanced Certified Nursing Assistant degree from Des Moines Area Community College. Fifty-five participants have completed the job training program since its inception. To watch a short video about Broadlawns’ TEACH program, click here.
