Attorneys with cases that have been resolved in the state’s business court pilot program believe the special court should become permanent and say that they would continue to seek assignment of qualifying cases to the court, according to an evaluation of the program by the Iowa Judicial Branch. Three judges have been assigned to hear complex commercial cases with $200,000 or more in dispute and claims seeking injunctive or declaratory relief. The program is in its third year, and it is strongly supported by attorneys who responded to a recent survey. To date, 33 cases have been referred to the three judges who make up the business court, and 19 have been resolved. The business court judges are Michael Huppert of Des Moines, Annette Scieszinski of Albia and John Telleen of LeClaire.   Read more about the program atBusinessRecord.com. Read the evaluation here.
