Business Record print edition design update

/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/BR_web_311x311.jpeg
As you flip through your latest edition of the Business Record, you’ll notice some changes in the way the paper looks. Essentially, with the help of our design team, we sat down and gave the Business Record a much needed design makeover. Here’s a quick rundown of some of the changes:
News magazine style: Our weekly print product used to be the place for breaking business news. As the Internet and technology have given us new outlets – our website and daily e-newsletters – for handling daily news and breaking news, our content focus for our print product has shifted toward providing in-depth analysis of issues and topics. After all, finding out while reading your Business Record, four days after it is announced, that the Partnership has a new president and new CEO just doesn’t make much sense. To reflect the change of our content, we felt it was necessary for the design of our print product to shift from a newspaper layout to that of a news magazine. Stories will have supplemental information like sidebars and charts – which you’ve likely seen in the past year – but the layout will be cleaner and more modern.
New fonts: We won’t get into serifs and nonserifs – oh wait, that’s sans serif in design lingo – all you need to know is the fonts changed to improve the readibility of our stories.
Writer bios: We’ve undergone an internal reorganization of beats for reporters and identified 15 industries we need to be covering. Each reporter now has ownership over three or four of those beats, which we believe will improve our coverage of the community. We want you to always know the reporter you can go to with questions, story ideas or tips, so at the end of each article, you’ll now see the writer’s photo and full contact info.
Industry labels: We’ve always broken our stories into different industries on our website. Now, we’ll include the industry name in print on each article so you’ll always know where to find a story online.
With any change comes new issues for us to work through. So bear with us through this change. But please never hesitate to reach out to me at chrisconetzkey@bpcdm.com with your feedback.
